Using risk to priotise long-term investments at Coliban Water

Investment prioritisation for CAPEX is one of the most challenging processes for water businesses. Using their existing risk framework, Coliban Water applied the risk to each project over time so they could see the scheduling of their long-term investments over multiple pricing periods. This forecast allowed them to visualise their long-term investment needs along with the risks that may trigger very high to extreme risk categories. Coliban Water were able to model long term financial sustainability, balancing customer prices and level of service against business viability.
